The fat lady really does sing!

And so it ends.

2 days shy of ten years and my time at Quest Software is over. I had expected it to be more emotional today than it was, but the long lead up has given me plenty of time to become accustomed to the idea of being "unemployed", and of course the big trip in front of us definitely softens the blow. In fact I had some trouble not seeming too excited as I was saying my good-byes...

There were a few people that I unfortunately missed saying farewell to, but I'm sure they know that I will miss them as much as everyone else that I did manage to catch up with. I appreciated the kind words from all, but also the card signatures and the collection: the Borders voucher was well spent, adding Steve McConnell's (almost mandatory) "Code Complete 2" to my bookshelf, as well as one of the many available publications on Design Patterns.

Now there's nothing to do but get ready for the adventure of our lifetime's (so far). 7 days and counting...

19 days to go...

The plans for our big "Trip of a lifetime" are taking shape, and the day is fast approaching when we head off in our campervan for our 11,000 km trip half way around Australia. Naturally excitement is starting to build. Here's our "home away from home" for the next 2 months:

Roll on December 5th!
